Municipal governments in B.C. have more power today than ever before. They have more jurisdiction and their decisions are made closest to home where citizens see impacts. Municipal governments' power with other levels of government are also notoriously under-rated - even by communities themselves.
  • Beyond Tradition - Things are not the way they used to be for communities. The sooner you recognize this - and why this is so - the sooner you'll be able to build linkages with communities. - Or if you're a municipality - the sooner you'll build more effective relations with local business groups.
  • Building Partnerships - Municipal governments are looking at new opportunities for economic development and for public/private partnerships. In B.C., municipalities will likely be given more financial powers than ever before under the current provincial government. Accountability and responsibilities are constantly changing with municipalities, and relationships need to be maintained through these challenges.
  • Working Together - There are issues where having the understanding and support of local government or local stakeholders can help you with other issues - like the future development of your organization and/or your community, giving it more visibility, helping open other government doors.
We Can Help You:
  • We can help you open new doors to understanding how organizations and municipalities can work more closely together.
  • We can help community groups, businesses and local governments work more closely with each other.
  • We can also help you work together to influence other governments on mutual issues.
  • We can help you be more entrepreneurial with local economic development.
