Those US primaries are REAL interesting. Talk about credibility and image shifts. At this writing, months and millions of dollars into her campaign, Hillary Clinton, has discovered herself, thanks to New Hampshire. And the Obama-rama has started. And McCain and Huckabee are surprising people too.
As my colleagues note, the death, allegedly caused by a Taser, of a Polish, non-English-speaking man in one of Canada’s busiest airports caught everyone up short. It was a classic crisis situation for all involved. And they all dropped the ball.
For those of us who sell communications consulting and support, or various types of communications training, it’s frustrating to be told that such services are “nice to have” but not mission critical.
The worst way to learn is trial by fire. On the other hand, an awful lot can be gained from weathering a crisis and then reflecting on what worked and what didn’t work.
